I designed this logo for my grandfather, a master carpenter in my birthplace, Jamaica. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday and has slowed down but my aunts and uncles desire to build on his legacy. They elected me to design a logo for his company that embodies his life’s work. Although I developed several concepts, I decided that an illustration of his portrait etched into a cross-section of wood, his medium of choice would be the perfect solution. I utilized negative/positive space to represent shading and highlights, enhancing his distinct facial features. I’m really proud of this design and it was truly a labor of love!
